Several Months ago I read on the Internet that an I Ching Application was available for the iPod. I don’t have an iPod and didn’t plan to get one in the near future. So I sent a message to a friend who has an iPod and is also another I Ching imbiber to tell her about this application.
Meanwhile I’ve been busy learning how to blog - just beginning to learn how to Tweet – something I have been in resistance about - not enough time – something new to learn and blah blah blah. Now I’m a convert because I found by synchronicity the man who created this little I Ching application by signing into Twitter. Santa Clause lives!

Giacomo Tufano
Giacomo Tufano lives in Italy, and has made his I Ching program available in English and Italian for the iPod and the iPhone. No, I didn’t get an iPod or iPhone. The program is free for downloading on all platforms. I’m on a MAC and I can’t tell you how many times I see programs that interest me only to find that they are not available on the MAC.
The screen shot here is one I created with the Hexagrams that came up when I hit the “Generate” button. What you see
here is what you get. The program works by hitting the Generate button and up comes the randomly programmed response. It doesn’t tell you what each line that changes means. What the I Ching Generator does do, as you can see by the picture here, is give you the Chinese word for the Hexagram, the lines, and a short interpretation that seems to be excerpted from the Wilhlem interpretation.
If you know nothing about the I Ching you might find this a fun tool to play with, sort of like a sophisticated fortune cookie. And if you are an I Ching geek, as some of us are, then this is an easy to use handy tool. I Ching geeks, as I call us, tend to want anything they can find to add to their I Ching collection.
So … When I hit the Generate Button I got, The Receptive Earth changing to Deliverance. Well I have received the I Ching utiity and am delivering it to you. Praise be the wonders of the Internet, iPods, programmers, Twitter, my Blogging guru, Bean Fairbanks at LVS online, Carl Jung, and many many others.
You can get your I Ching Generator HERE.

I downloaded the file and when I clicked on “generate” here’s what I got. Pretty interesting:
The present is: 益 (yì) / Increase
Wind and thunder: the image of Increase. Thus the superior man: if he sees good, he imitates it; if he has faults, he rids himself of them.
Increase. It furthers one to undertake something. It furthers one to cross the great water.
The mutation(s):
One is enriched through unfortunate events. No blame, if you are sincere and walk in the middle, and report with a seal to the prince.
He brings increase to no one. Indeed, someone even strikes him. He does not keep his heart constantly steady. Misfortune.
The future is: 既濟 (jì jì) / After Completion
Water over fire: the image of the condition in After Completion. Thus the superior man takes thought of misfortune and arms himself against it in advance.
After Completion. Success in small matters. Perseverance furthers. At the beginning good fortune, at the end disorder.
