Hexagram 20I am still mired in my moving process, unable to focus on my next I Ching Meditations hexagram 17, Following. Recently, Trish MacGregor from Syncrosecrets.com, posted a question on this blog, asking if I had consulted the I Ching about my move. Yes, I have asked several different questions at different times but I didn’t think they were interesting enough to anyone else to bother posting about, nor did I feel I could take the time out to do it.

While I am choosing to make this move and will be very glad when the whole process is done, still, living in the chaos, packing, sorting, dealing with endless paperwork, the whole thing becomes not only tiring, boring and at times very soul searching.

Then yesterday, after several days of dealing with tiring issues regarding the move at the end of day, feeling weary I asked this question:

What will be the ‘Blessing’ on the other side of this move into a new environment?

The response I got when throwing the coins (unlike choosing a hexagram to focus on like I did in my previous post) was Hexagram 20, Contemplation, with all lines changing to hexagram 34, The Power of the Great. Sounds good to me. The response I received prompts me to post it just because of the odds of receiving a hexagram with all moving lines.

I have not yet created an image or text for either of those hexagrams for my I Ching Meditations but have painted an image for the character paintings and also have my I Ching Prescriptions for all the hexagrams.

Of course the I Ching always throws back at me just what is going on. While I was asking about the future, or thought I was, the two Hexagrams, 20, Contemplation/Viewing and hexagram 34, both depict what I am dealing with in this moving process that are outside of my grumbles.

The moving process forces me to examine every article, whether it is furniture, clothing or even food. I come across old photographs, and things I forgot I had. I have to find a million boxes and so on and so on. And all this takes a lot of strength.

When I look at what I wrote for I Ching Prescriptions, it fits my mental process. In the hexagram Contemplation/Viewing the idea of viewing, is an image of a tower that sees far and is seen from a far and I think is described as a literal landscape. But the hexagram works for the inner process as well. I am viewing my life, and much of it is as from a long distance. Hexagram 34 is all about the power of strength which sure is needed during a move.

Hexagram 34It seems to me that when all the lines of a hexagram are in movement that the energy of the situations move back and forth. While I thought I was asking about the future – i.e., my “Blessing” AFTER this drudgery is over, and I like what I got for an answer, the response I got from the throw of the coins, applies to the present. If after I get settled and unpacked, and my “blessing” is to be contemplation and power, I will be most grateful. A move into new territory is an event that can take quite a while to absorb. I will be contemplating and viewing a lot and glad that I will have strength. My big wish is that I will be able to use Contemplation and The Power of the Great to complete my next meditation, Following.

  1. Genuinely when someone doesn’t understand then its up to other people that they will help, so here it occurs.

Just shove those boxes into a corner and forget about them!

    Are you moved?

    Happy 4th, Adele!

    • Hi Trish – yes, I have moved however, the moving in process is even more exhausting and time consuming than moving out. And moving out of state requires more paperwork issues and blah blah blah. I am longing to be able to get back to “work” my play. Happy 4th of July to you!

It always feels that way. But you can at least unpack at your leisure!

It sounds wonderful, Adele. You’ll settle in quickly and be back at work in no time!

  6. Hi Trish – thanks for the comment – “Jung’s Tower” Oh my! I’m moving back to Connecticut, half mile from my daughter and family – a tiny place but also a few blocks from the beach. While the moving process is hell, even more hell as I get older, the result is going to be good.

You’re in Jung’s tower,Adele. What do you see? What do you intuit? What resonates for you? I like these hexagrams, I feel good about this move for you. But where are you moving snd why?

    • p.s Trish – the most significant thing about my reading was getting all six lines changing. I forget the odds on that, but know it is a rare event. I also think that hexagram 20 could have many different interpretations “views” – time will tell.
