Thanks for the comment, Trish.
That's interesting that you think of #4, The Young Fool (Youthful Folly) as a trickster. Were you thinking of The Magician in the Tarot or maybe the Fool? I hadn't thought of #4 in that way before because it feels for me like the kind of learning one has to do when one is young and sometimes, if we are lucky, we can have that experience of new learning again when we are old and older. New learning, I guess sums it up for me. But I like your slant on the trickster. I have to think about that some more the next time I get hexaram 4.

Hi Cyndi,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you here.
Your request for help is hard to do because I don't really know enough or even the question you asked. Just as an aside, as a strange synchronicity, I got that same hexagram reading yesterday - the day you posted. Hexagram 23 with the top line changing to hexagram 2. But I like it - the "splitting" is over (what ever that may be) and turns to that powerful "Receptive earth." Perhaps the I Ching was advising you to let go of the split and be open to receive. But I don't really know, not knowing you or more details. In any case, I think of that reading as good but the I Ching is always a subjective experience so it can well have different meanings for you.

I always find the wisdom of the I Ching helpful for what ever.

Olga,
I think hexagram 34 is a great one (The Power of the Great) for a career question. I'm wondering what I Ching interpretation you are consulting for your answers. At the risk of blowing my own horn, why not try my book, "I Ching Prescriptions." I wrote it with a different slant on using the I Ching and also for people who wanted a "quick fix" with the I Ching and either don't have the time or the inclination to delve into some of the other texts. I Ching is a big subject do deal with. Your will see a link to my I Ching Prescriptions on the side of this blog. Also, be sure to read Wilhelms's interpretation - my bible.

So interpretation is difficult...I asked what I should be doing to bring me to my new career.
Results: Hexagram #34 / Hexagram #34

Nothing? Exactly as I am? Interpretation stumps me. Please advise.

Hi Adele,

It seems that there are two of us in fairly desperate straits. I got hex 23 (split apart) changing to hex 2. My heart is broken over and over by myself! For almost a year now, I've been in love with a man who is in a relationship with someone else. He is a dear friend of mine (truly) and we will be friends forever (unmistakably). And often I accept and appreciate him and us for simply what we are. But sometimes, I get lonely, and I then quickly break down.

I don't cast lightly or often. It usually takes me days or even a week or two to interpret the hexagram I've received. So, now Hex 2 is staring me in the face. I'm trying to accept the greater mystery inside which is the beautiful me. I know she's there! But I'm so over fifty, never married, and very lonely.

Any help would be great.

Olga, hexagram 64, "Before Completion" - while it is the last of the hexagrams it is not about the end. The I Ching is circular and really has no end. I suggest you get the Princeton University, I Ching with Jung's forward and start reading what Jung says first and then delve into the I Ching.

Oh...the other Hexagon Reading involved a 64 in relation to my old beau, but I don't remember the position of the other number. 64 is ending correct?
