Notes on this line:
The inverse of hexagram #41, Decrease, is #42, Increase.
In hexagram 41 the fifth line — 10 pairs of tortoises — is the augury for good fortune without fail. The Chinese text also refers to 10 pairs of tortoises in the second line of hexagram 42.
Another thing I find interesting is that the mutual hexagram created by the middle lines for #42, is Hexagram 23, Splitting apart. The mutual hexagram for #41, is hexagram 24, Return.
In hexagram 41, the trigrams Mountain over Lake are defined by their human symbols. Lake is called the youngest daughter, and Mountain the youngest son.
In hexagram 42, the trigram human symbols are Wind and Wood, the oldest daughter, Thunder the oldest son.
I would be interest to know if anyone has any thoughts about this.
