I know what you mean. The thing that helps me when I am in a standstill is to remember that this is a process and might be a period of germination. Everything CHANGES. Still – no Gemini or Leo feels comfortable in a time of standing still. For a Gemini, it could be crazy making. 🙂
Whenever I get this hexagram, it stuns me. I have to backpedal, mull it over. More than any other “negative” hexagram, this one always leaves me feeling somewhat depressed. Your illustration reflects that.
Have u done something on 39? We get a lot of queries for that particular hexagram, another one of my “not so faves.”
Trish, I know what you mean about getting hexagram for Standstill. If you go to my full #12 by either clicking on the image or on the “Page” for Hexagram 12 you will see that in my interpretation/inspiration for this hexagram is not so gloomy. I see it as part of a natural process; sometimes like when the seed is underground and seems to be at a standstill but is part of the entire growth cycle. The hexagram that I really dread is # 47, Exhaustion. But every time I get “exhaustion” the situation happens to be true. Sometimes I find the I Ching good for me to pull me out of denial.
And I sure do know what you mean about hexagram 39. Since I have been taking forever to complete my drawings because I have started over a number of times I haven’t done #39. I did write something in my book, “I Ching Prescriptions” that makes the “obstruction” easier to deal with – for me anyway.
I totally agree about stand still being a natural cycle. But just ’cause it’s natural doesn’t mean I have to like it!
