The image of Water over Lake

Image, I Ching hexagram 60.

The lake contains a limited amount of water.
After a time of dispersion we find our limitations.
The hours in the day, days in the year, years in a century, the solar system in the galaxy
are all within a limitation of measurement.
It is just as important not to be extreme by limiting yourself with unnecessary restrictions.
Define your limitations and then set your limits in order to have balance in your life.

Nine in the first place

For the moment keep still.
Find out what your limitations are before beginning any new task.
Acknowledge the limits within yourself and limits imposed from outside.
This awareness will prevent you from falling into danger.

Six in the fourth place

It is best to accept one’s limitations and work with them.
Some limitations can be helpful when used to your advantage.
Be like a surfer who leans to ride with the wave rather than pulled under.

Nine in the fifth place

Accepting and then applying a limitation has rewards.

For example: limiting what you eat can be beneficial at times.
Remember not to impose your limitations on others.
Set an example by demonstrating discipline.

Six in the last place

Don’t impose limitations that are too strict for yourself or others.
Sometimes limits are necessary. Other times they cause rebellion.
Make an effort to understand two opposing views at the same time.
You might feel trapped or confined within a limitation.
Or you can use it to your advantage.

Get to the inner truth of the situation.
