Image hexagram 49, lines
The Image of Fire in the Lake

Image, I Ching hexagram 49

Fire can evaporate water. Water can put out a fire. When these two apposing elements work together they can eliminate the past in a radical transformative experience. The nuclear hexagram is # 44 – Coming to Meet. Perhaps it is coming to meet that enables the fire and water to work together to create this new unexpected metamorphosis of one’s being.

This is a time of radical change and renewal when you shed your old skin to become new and transformed. A personal revolution should be undertaken only when the situation deems it necessary. When you are clear that the time is right go about these life changing events with care. Strip away your cover (your defense mechanism) to allow and reveal new growth. When the caterpillar is changing into a butterfly one cannot hurry the process by ripping open the cocoon. Trust the process.

Nine the the first place

The old self will be stripped away while slowly developing into the new.
Metamorphosis is an organic process that can’t be forced.
The time is not right for action now.
Think about the caterpillar forming a cover of protection while transformation develops.

Six in the second place

When you have tried everything and still need a different mode of living
you need to prepare.
There will be no going back so try to imagine now
what a revolution or metamorphosis of yourself will bring to your life.

Nine in the third place

Wait! Mull the situation over for three days or three weeks or three hours,
what ever it takes, until you feel confident in your decision.
Then take action to make the transformative change.

    #44 – the yin line – temptation – Coming to Meet –
#43 – the yang lines – pushing the yin – Temptation – out

    #44 Judgement – Should Not – Marry –
    #44 Image – Thus Does – The Prince –

Therefore – there is no answer – #44 seems to be unique – as the ONLY hexagram – with Image and Judgement – being opposites – Kunderlini – Yin Power – and #51 Shock principle – 1st son – Prince – Yang Power – As one – Pure Spirit – No answer – no understanding – The Shock of Reality – Beautifully made apparent – in The Magic – Chinese I Ching

    • I love I Ching MAGIC!

What I would like to do –
        first – learn basic Chinese
Then – get a woman to narrate
the I Ching – in Chinese – Then
get it sampled up so one could ask
a question – and then – like Alexia
        the Ching could actually answer
the question – that is – if
        there was – an answer

        (( :

        • Great idea but how about doing it in English first?

There is the feeling of The Ching having a – Personality –
            A – presence – avuncular – direct – authoritative – also – kind
Probably best as a man narrating – and definitely in the original Chinese – as only this would be proper – and respectful
The woman narrated I Ching – maybe – Kwan Yin – Yin as the positive attribute – This would be wonderful – narrated by a Chinese woman – or even – in French – La Langue Feminine – perfect – pour la
            Kwan Yin

    To Trish and Adele
    I really have –
    no idea

Guess it was one of those I Ching Geek questions – I Ching as Metaphysical Toy ! – Non Sequitur question ! – Did happen though – long time ago – as I remember – The Chinese Ching had Kwei #43 printed twice – no #44 – otherwise was a normal Ching – wish I still had it – have no idea what happened to it – got through loads of Chings – worn out – lost – stolen – maybe dematerialised – and this – metaphysical quality – thats fascinating to an I Ching geek – The Double Bubble thing ? – The Inner Microcosm – Sycronisticaly – linked with the Macrocosm – in the – timeless – no space – maybe

      • That’s interesting that the book had #43 Twice. Maybe that was the message for you at that time. Alfred Huang calls #43 “Eliminating.” I always thought it was called Break through but both those names imply something different – at least to me. So #43 eliminated Going to Meet. Fascinating strange Ching event.

        • IanNo Gravatar says:

no – the central point was that I made an enquiry of the Ching – Is there a question to which you have no answer – I threw 699999 – however – not an answer – in the Chinese I Ching – as #44 was not there – the only hexagram – not there – so thereby answering my question – is there a question to which you have no answer – answer #44 – no hexagram –

  6. TrishNo Gravatar says:

Now THAT is interesting, Ian. Has whatever 44 represented for you fallen out of your life or is it coming int your life?

  7. IanNo Gravatar says:

    Asked the Ching once –
Is there a question to which
    You have no answer ?

    #44

    A while later
I was in Soho Chinatown –
    Chinese bookshop

    Have you got
    An original I Ching –
    In Chinese ?

    Yup !

Perfect – although I cant read
    Chinese – all the hexagrams
    where there

    Except for one

    #44

    This has always been
    Highly meaningful
    To me
