The image of Fire over Wind/Wood

Lines hexagram 50

I Ching image hexagram 50.

If you turn hexagram 49 around it becomes hexagram 50

Lines, hexagram 49 and 50

Hex49, Metamorphosis, is an organic transformation.
Hexagram 50 is alchemical transformation.

The caldron is a vessel that is used to transform food.
It is also a symbol for the process of transforming the mind and spirit.

Burn through the old dead wood of your life and use the flames of your imagination.
Let your creative ideas “cook,” transforming them into food for thought
or food to eat for yourself as well as for others.
Be mindful and place responsibility for what you put into the pot.

Six in the first place

Remove all the stagnant deadwood from your life that
might be emotional, physical or outdated beliefs.

Nine in the second place

There is food for thought in your cauldron,
nourishing transformation of yourself and those whom you feed.
Are you too hot to handle? These creative abilities may be envied.
Ignore any negativity that may come from your achievements.
This is a time to shine from your fire within.

Nine in the third place

“The handle of the cauldron is altered.” Wilhelm/Baynes

After you accomplished something of worth you may not be recognized.
Some can’t “get a handle” on your creations.
You wrote a great book, painted a master piece, or even cooked a fabulous meal,
and no one noticed.
When your work is good it will be recognized in time.
This is all part of the process of transformation.
Be like the rain that washes away any debris that is clogging your process.

Nine in the fourth place

“The legs of the cauldron are broken. The prince’s meal is spilled and his person soiled.” Wilhelm/Baynes

You would like to achieve something truly transformational and you are not up to the task.
Perhaps you did not work hard enough or you wasted your time with the wrong people.
Face reality. Clean up the mess.

Six in the fifth place

Wilhelm/Baynes

Be aware and approachable. Listen. Your intuition is open.
With the right attitude you will find someone to help you succeed with your task.
Show your work of art. Serve the “food” you have prepared.
